New York Restoration Project (NYRP), è lieta di presentare "Women in Flight", una mostra di opere site specific all'aperto create dalla pluripremiata artista Andrea Arroyo.
"Women in Flight" presenta una serie di opere d'arte ispirate alle donne storiche e contemporanee di New York, integrate in tre giardini comunitari nell'Upper Manhattan.
Ogni pezzo site-specific è realizzato con materiali riproposti e integrato con cura nell'ambiente naturale di piante, erba e altri elementi di ogni giardino.
Alcune delle opere liriche di Arroyo includono "The Women of the Forest", un'opera con ritagli di silhouette femminili integrati con una massiccia parete di edera a cascata, e "Women in Movement", con ritagli di silhouette femminili che galleggiano su ruote multiple sospese dagli alberi.
"Women in Flight" porta l'arte nel pubblico e crea un'esperienza artistica inaspettata e completamente accessibile, creando una conversazione a più livelli che collega arte, natura e comunità.
Le opere liriche e provocatorie di Andrea Arroyo portano l'attenzione su questioni urgenti come l'ambiente, i diritti delle donne e l'immigrazione.

DESCRIPTION:
New York Restoration Project (NYRP), is pleased to present “Women in Flight” an exhibition of site-specific, outdoor works created by award-winning artist Andrea Arroyo.
“Women in Flight” features a series of artworks inspired by historical and contemporary women of New York, and integrated into three community gardens in Upper Manhattan.
Each site-specific piece is executed with repurposed materials and thoughtfully integrated within the natural environment of plants, grass and other elements of each garden.
Some of Arroyo’s lyrical artworks include “The Women of the Forest” a piece featuring female silhouette cutouts integrated with a massive wall of cascading ivy, and “Women in Movement” featuring female silhouette cutouts floating on multiple wheels suspended from trees.
“Women in Flight” Takes art into the public realm and creates an art experience that is unexpected and thoroughly accessible, creating a multi-level conversation that bridges art, nature and community.
Andrea Arroyo’s lyrical and thought provoking works bring attention to pressing issues like the environment, women’s rights and immigration.
For the artist, the struggles of women in history mirror the struggles of women in contemporary society, who have to defy social norms and prejudice in order to achieve justice and equality.
About the artist: Andrea Arroyo is an award-winning artist working in a range of media including public art, painting, drawing, illustration and site-specific installation.
Her work is exhibited internationally and is in private, corporate and public collections around the world.
Public art and commissions include projects for New York Restoration Project, The Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum, the New York Women Foundation, El Museo del Barrio, The International Museum of Women, The MTA/New York Subway, The NY School Construction Authority, and The Women’s Rights National Historical Park.
