Nord America: il 'polar vortex'.

 Il ‘polar vortex’, il vortice polare arrivato da nord,  ha portato nei giorni scorsi nel Nord America, le temperature a livelli mai registrati prima, persino in aree abituate a lunghi periodi sottozero. Temperature percepite fino a -53 gradi nel Montana! Un freddo che ha paralizzato soprattutto il Midwest, con scuole chiuse, e migliaia di voli cancellati e l’invito, rivolto a tutti, di restare in casa.
Temperatura record a Chicago, -27 gradi!
L'insolita ondata di freddo si è fatta sentire anche negli Stati tradizionalmente più caldi, come Tennessee e Alabama, arrivati fino a -8. In tutto, circa 187 milioni di persone – più della metà della popolazione statunitense – hanno subito gli effetti del vortice polare, che ha reso molte zone degli Stati Uniti più fredde della Siberia ed ha provocato grandissimi i danni economici.
