Anche quest'anno in una serata spettacolare si è svolta la celebrazione di questa forma molto speciale di giornalismo: la premiazione della miglior vignetta inglese ed il miglior disegnatore satirico politico per il 2017.
Ospite d'onore George Osborne è stato negli anni una delle migliori firme di molti fumettisti e ora è un sostenitore del cartone politico. Nel suo nuovo ruolo di redattore di The Evening Standard, ha reintrodotto il fumetto politico nelle sue pagine con la nomina di Christian Adams.
Per il secondo anno consecutivo Morten Morland conquista il premio "Political Cartoonist of the Year 2017".

Manchester Arena 23/05/2017 ore 22.34: La follia del terrorismo semina morte ad un concerto di teenager a Manchester, dove un kamikaze si è fatto esplodere al concerto di Ariana Grande, idolo delle teenager, in una arena affollatissima di giovanissimi e di genitori: almeno 22 morti, almeno 120 i feriti e 12 dispersi. Ci sono anche bambini tra le vittime, la più piccola aveva otto anni. Ci sono poi almeno 12 piccoli gravemente feriti, tutti sotto i 16 anni. L'Isis rivendica l'attentato affermando, tramite l'agenzia Amaq, che uno dei suoi membri ha compiuto l'attacco.Who is smaller...?

GB: la Brexit parte.
BRUXELLES - Il cammino verso la Brexit è partito. L'ambasciatore britannico all'Ue, Tim Barrow, ha consegnato nelle mani del presidente del Consiglio Europeo, Donald Tusk, la lettera di notifica dell'articolo 50 del Trattato di Lisbona, firmata da Theresa May, che segna l'inizio dell'iter formale di divorzio del Regno Unito da Bruxelles.
"Dopo nove mesi la Gran Bretagna ha partorito la Brexit". E' il tweet del presidente del Consiglio europeo Donald Tusk, che gioca sul doppio senso che ha in inglese il verbo 'deliver': consegnare, riferito alla lettera di Londra con cui fa scattare l'articolo 50, ma anche 'partorire', riferendosi ai nove mesi che ha atteso Londra prima di avviare ufficialmente l'addio all'Ue.

"Non c'è ragione di pensare che oggi sia un giorno felice": così il presidente del Consiglio Ue Donald Tusk. "Io e la Commissione abbiamo il forte mandato per proteggere gli interessi dei 27. Non c'è niente da vincere nel processo (del negoziato per l'uscita del Regno Unito dalla Ue, ndr) e parlo per entrambe le parti. In essenza si tratta di una limitare i danni. Il nostro obiettivo è chiaro: minimizzare i costi per i cittadini, le imprese e gli stati membri della Ue. Faremo tutto quanto in nostro potere ed abbiamo tutti gli strumenti per raggiunger questo obiettivo". Così Donald Tusk nella sua dichiarazione dopo aver ricevuto la lettera del governo britannico per l'uscita dalla Ue. "La prima priorità sarà quella di minimizzare le incertezze provocate dalla decisione del Regno Unito per i nostri cittadini, le imprese e gli Stati membri", ha detto Tusk, che ha aggiunto: "Cosa dobbiamo sottolineare oggi è che per il momento nulla è cambiato. Finché il Regno Unito non lascerà l'Unione europea, le leggi della Ue continueranno a essere valide per e all'interno del Regno Unito".

C'E' POSTA PER LA UE
Oggi è fisicamente arrivata l'attesa lettera con cui La Gran Bretagna formalizza la Brexit.
Qualcuno identifica con questo l'inizio di un irrimediabile declino della UE.
Io auspico, al contrario, che questo spinga e contribuisca maggiormente a raggiungere gli obbiettivi originari dell'Unione.

A undici giorni dal voto, una nuova tegola si abbatte su Hillary Clinton. La Fbi riapre l’indagine sullo scandalo delle email. Il messaggio di un giornalista che lo annuncia, viene ritwittato moltissime volte e la democratica cerca di correre ai ripari, chiedendo lei stessa agli inquirenti di rendere pubblico quanto scoperto. Il manager della campagna democratica Podestà però, accusa di killeraggio mediatico e di pescare nel torbido solo per colpire la Clinton.

Così l’ex segretario di Stato: “Gli americani meritano di conoscere immediatamente tutti i fatti”, ha detto la Clinton. “Lo stesso direttore della Fbi ha ammesso di non sapere se queste email sono rilevanti. Non conosciamo i fatti, per questo chiediamo alla Fbi di rendere pubbliche tutte le informazioni in suo possesso”.
Ovviamente l’avversario repubblicano si getta a capofitto su questo nuovo scandalo.
Donald Trump ha affermato non senza enfasi: “Questa storia è più grave dello scandalo Watergate. La corruzione della Clinton è una cosa mai vista prima. Non dobbiamo permetterle di portare il suo progetto criminale nello studio ovale”.

I love this cartoon by the great Clay Bennett published in today's edition of The Chattanooga Times Free Press.
It turns out I came up with the same idea:
